Direct Personal Response
We offer a service of Direct Personal Response meetings for those involved in historical institutional matters.
We provide a survivor of abuse a neutral setting to talk directly to an institution to share their experiences and for the institution to develop a deeper understanding of those experiences.
We aim to facilitate communication between the parties and open up a dialogue between them so that the real human impact of conduct can be understood.
Some of the outcomes of a direct personal response meeting might include:
- Genuine engagement between those affected by institutional abuse and the institution
- An expression of the full impact that the abuse has had on the survivor
- Institutions taking responsibility for their actions
Our unique service model
Our mediators are trauma-informed practitioners who work with survivors and the institutions to ensure that the process does not cause unnecessary further harm to either party
